4 High-fat Foods You Want to Eat

Surprise – fats can be good for you!

Dark chocolate is not only great for when you have that slight sweet tooth, but it’s filled with antioxidants like resveratrol that help to fight against heart disease. Not only that, but the cacao bean used to create dark chocolate helps to improve mood and it contains monounsaturated fatty acids (like oleic acid) that are good for your overall health. So if you’re reaching for chocolate… make sure it’s the dark kind and you’ll be okay. (Just don’t go overboard.)

Avocado is one of my favorite foods (see: my obsession with chips and guacamole). Avocado is great for suppressing hunger, boosting energy, lowering cholesterol and reducing inflammation. Packed with 15g of heart-friendly fats, avocado is actually made up of 75% overall fats that are good for your health and tons of antioxidants. So next time someone tries to criticize your avocado obsession… you’ve got a few facts to back up why you should be allowed to love it!

Nuts, particularly almonds and pistachios, are packed with fats. Also filled with proteins, antioxidants, fiber and magnesium – nuts are great to keep your fat intake at a good level if you’re eating more chicken than tofu and need a little boost. Just be careful, these babies add up in calories quicker than most people realize.

Finally, eggs! Eggs are great in almost any form in my opinion. We all know they contain a lot of healthy fats, but they also help to keep you feeling full and they are delicious and packed with protein. Yes, please!
