Get back into the gym

January 13, 2018

It’s not about being the strongest, the fastest or even the one who sweats the most. Fitness is about consistency. Set a plan for yourself, show up and make the time count. Even when you’re tired, show up. Even when you think that you won’t be able to give 100%… show up. When working out becomes a consistent habit, change will follow. Trust the process.

Believing in yourself, in the gym and outside of it, is incredibly vital to your success. When you think about your goals and aspirations, what do they look like? Write them down. Envision the future you want – as big and as bold as you want it to be – because you can’t even begin to reach for something great if you don’t think about it first. Your perfect body, or even job, begins by having the audacity to imagine it. Then you can start to work towards it. Take your first step today. Write your goals down and believe in yourself.

Finding time to fit a training session into your schedule can seem daunting at first. There are so many things that can get in the way. That’s why it’s important to plan your workouts into your day like you would plan a doctor’s appointment or lunch with your friends. Treat your own wellness journey like any other part of your life. Just like you set times for meetings at work, set a time for your body to sweat and stick to that time. You’ll find a way to make it happen if you take the idea of an excuse out of the picture.

Don’t limit yourself when you’re working out. Take the challenges presented. Your body is going to always be able to handle a lot more than you think it will. Trust your body and dig deep. Put everything else out of your mind and focus on your own strength when you’re in a workout and you will find that you can surprise yourself… you’re always stronger than you think.

Show up. Say yes to your body and yes to your training plan and yes to your wellness. Shut out the excuses and commit to yourself. You’ll find a way, I promise.
